I'm currently running an i7 920 and feel it’s time for an upgrade. My full specs at the moment are:
i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz
Gigabyte EX58-UD5
12GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
Samsung 830 250GB SSD
WD Caviar Black 1TB
2x GTX 680 SLI
Asus Xonar STX Sound Card (PCI-E 1x)
450mbs wifi card (PCI-E 1x)
OCZ ZX 850W PSU
I've settled on the 4770k as my processor of choice so that just leaves the motherboard and ram as I don't see the need to change anything else. I have a megahalems cooler but I think its a rev B so not sure if this will be compatible with the 1150 board?
For the motherboard, I want something that can overclock well but I really don't need any fancy features like HD audio or wifi as I have that covered with my PCI-E cards. The main concern is getting all those PCI-E cards in while maintaining good spacing for the 680s. I've got about an inch between them at the moment which keeps them cool and quiet.
I have an extra 4gb stick of the Kingston hyperX in a draw so I don't actually need a ram upgrade but I know that haswell supports higher speed memory so maybe its worth considering? 2 8GB sticks would probably be better for overclocking stability as well.
No real budget constraints to consider, I don't mind paying extra for performance but I don't want to spend more then I need too.
