hat could the new iMac and macmini hold if updated

The Mini usually gets the features last.

I won't expect HDMI to appear until about 2009, however, I expect eSATA to see an appearance in the next revisions :)

2009 :o wow i would have thought they would have promoted the mini as a media centre thts what im thinking media films and the odd essey it would be nice in hd but i spose apple knows best. I just want them to upgrade it really good so i can buy one rthe than considering it lol.

Na, the Mini is aimed at the low power, internet surfing and word processing market. Not really a media centre in my opinion. If HDMI appears I would have thought it would enter on the Mac Pro and iMac.

It's actually not bad as a media centre, it plays 1080p mkv's back perfectly at 10+mbit/sec encode rates already. Optical out would be nice and 7.2k rpm HD's would be even better (it's already documented the mini can handle the heat/power demands but apple are in no hurry to push the io performance on an entry level machine).
