Hi all,

I am in need of a new car asap but I'm really unsure what to look at.

I want something that isn't too bad on fuel but fun to drive at the same time.

Have been looking at 306 D Turbo's but have been advised to stay away from them as they have head gasket problems?!

Anyone have any other ideas?

Cheers

Saxo VTR, could get a 99plate for that in reasonable condition. Hoot to drive and fair on insurance.

Mine returns 100 miles to a tenner, even if I give it some beans.

Incidently I'm picking up a new motor so my old VTR is up for sale, and my parents live in Nottingham, got friends in Hucknall etc (think your from there iirc).

the turbo diesel in the 306 is actually pretty much bullet-proof, so long as the oil has been changed at the suggested intervals. It's the same engine you will find in all sorts of mega mileage taxis. With the 306, all you have to worry about is the rest of the car falling to bits around the engine :p Although even that's not so bad as a lot of people like to make out. The electrics are very iffy though.
