no not really. let me explain:

I know it to my understanding that interest is not permitted, thats what Sharia law is I think. I dont take loans from bank and all the interest I get from my accounts go to charity.

If I take drugs, and drink Alchahol and do other sins that are well knowen in christianity, judaism and islam. Then that makes me a bad muslim as am defiying laws in my religon.

so do you have one of the Islamic mortgages, or not got a mortgage at all?

But to attempt to answer your question, I'd always try to respect peoples beliefs except where I consider they impinge unnecessarily on my life. The problem comes in defining what is unnecessary, I personally could live without pork (or X foodstuff in its place) and if there was no one locally I could source it from then I have no options about their faith influencing my life to a degree. I could move country to somewhere that I do have more freedom to eat what I like though.

For what it matters I think legislation based on religious beliefs is almost invariably a bad idea, on the occasions where religious beliefs and law coincide (thou shalt not kill/steal sort of thing) and make sense then it is usually because the religious idea has come from a basis of encouraging social cohesion which is mostly common sense and arguably would have come to the fore in any society that lasted more than a few generations.

The main responsibility of a man/women after marriage (or before) is to have a home or shelter for his/her family. If a muslim is in a country where the only way to buy a house is via mortgage, then he is allowed because the money he is getting is not gone for fun, its gone for shelter.

If someone takes a loan for fun and pays intrest on that then that is not allowed.

HSBC, has Islamic mortgages now, approved by some people i forget the name of, basically the bank buys the house and you then rent it back from them for a period of time before the house becomes yours.

So if I'm a Christian and I've never read the bit about "though shalt not commit adultery" it's OK for me to commit adultery as it's not against the law in the UK, in a Muslim country with Sharia law I could be stoned to death for such an offence! If I'm a Christian I just have to seek forgiveness, I know which one I'd chooes:-

just on an off shoot, I have no problems with people who follow there religion as long as it doesn't affect me, (although in not totally against a debate about their religion) and they follow the law of the country they are in. what really annoys me is people who "follow" a religion but don’t know anything about it/ choose only the bits they like. Yes religious teaching are open to interpretation and in some cases flexible but to properly follow a religion you have to take the rough with the smooth

Yes some countries still follow that and am kinda with it. The older you get the more you learn and the more you follow a religon closly. I only learnt about interest no permitted last year and am 25

I dont quite follow? stoning is a punishment. I think its a great law, thats why we have very low adultery rate. People dont do it.

I Live in the UK and I respect the britsh law, I have to, I live here.

But some countries its different. Besides you need to take the factor on how much a country is modernised. Look at UAE, its like Europe

lol no Bun, the point of this was to find out why people hate Islam, and I came to this conclusion:

1. People in Islamic countries are not doing themselves justice by spoiling the name of Islam
2. The media just twists and turns stuff as it likes
3. People in the western countries believe what they see on TV and are not educated enough to know the difference between what is right Islam law and what is wrong that the people around the world is following.
