Hated Religon

The big question is what is the difference between two people claiming that someone else's beliefs are stupid because they aren't the same as theirs, that makes it acceptable for an atheist to say but intolerant when a muslim or christian says it...

Couple that with the commonly seen religious-like devotion to the scientific method and it's assumptions as being relevant in all situations rather than just in context, and it gets really funny to read sometimes...

A quick look up at this thread will show what sort of beliefs people are expressing.

Are you suggesting that posts like

All religion. Total rollocks.

and

I don't think it is Islam as such. Many people dislike all religions, with good reason.

show that those people are intolerant?

From those posts its not possible to deduce that those members would ban anyone from believing in a God. I would suggest that most member would share your view of believing in what you like but don't force those beliefs onto anyone else.

All Religions believe their god created the earth yet it's been scientifically proven that the earth was formed by gas, dust and mavity:D

Scientifically proven != absolute fact, especially when dealing with untestable, unrepeatable events.

Science describes the simplest way the end result could have occured based on it's assumptions and previous test data from other situations in circumstances like this. Science describes what could have happened, not what did happen.

Scientifically proven, in this situation, only means that that it matches the data and fits all the assumptions of the method. It does not mean an alternative mechanism could not have taken place.

Astronomers have seen planets formed in the exact same way I've described and when they were watching it happen did they see some almighty powerful being molding the planet into shape? No!

Because he didn't create the earth Physics did!

I'm not sure this is worth the effort but take a step to the side for a second, why could (a) god not create the 'rules' that govern physics and have created the Earth in a way that fitted with those rules as we understand them? Possible, yes or no?

//edit and Dolph has nicely explained the scientific method again.

From your other posts/threads you always seem to be incredibly willing to question everything with the scientific method.................have I got the wrong end of the stick?

There's only two things I hate in this world.

People who are intolerant of other people's religions..........and the Muslims.

Why?... See thats what I mean ... Do you know what Islam is all about or do you hate just just because

OCUK Forum is an online community, people should respect other peoples religon and point of view with scense. Whats what I mean when mods turn a blind eye on all of this.

I don't think any religion believes the universe works like that. That's a particularly crass thing to say.

What about

I hate all religion tbh especially those that aren't actually religions but huge cons... Oh wait thats what every major religion that exists is!

i hate all religion not just islam!

And religious intolerance does not necessarily have to involve banning beliefs other than your own. Christians declaring people will burn in hell, or atheists claiming that those who hold religious beliefs are mentally ill or stupid qualifies just the same.

Asuuming this is true we should also be invisible to the naked eye as the bible states we're all made in gods image. I've never been able to pysically see physics so I shouldn't be able to see myself if this is true!

maybe its the holy spirit aspect of god that controls physics, while your made in the image of the father.

Go back to smoking dope. You probably make more sense in your own head.
