Have 5970 - worth adding a second card?

Hi There

I was lucky to pick up a 5970 about 5 or 6 months ago . My system is an Asus P6T SE, 6GB DDR3 @ 1333 and i7 920 @ Stock.

Thinking about adding a second GPU if I can pick one up handy and I was wondering , do I have to go for another 5970 or will xFire allow a lower spec card and if so , would that be of benefit ?

Also would my CPU then be a limiting factor at stock and would I need to OC ?

Hey Thanks .. I game at 1920x1200 so a 5870 would work nicely with it ? They are quite affordable too which is good . Thanks for the advice

It's a sin to have a i7 920 at stock btw.

I invested in a new cooler last week so I am going to look at overclocking the CPU.

I've just sold my 5970 and got 2x6970's

6000 series scale much better than the 5000 series, and it dont cost much to upgade

Sorry to drag this up again . Would 2x6970's be a waste if I am gaming at 1920x1200 though as Final8y stated in previous posts ?

Just get a additional 5870 for tri-fire and clock the [email protected] ?

This is what I was concerned about to be honest. You were using 2 x 5870x's Wedgie ?
