Have a blessed Good Friday

Currently in Brasov and the Easter festivities have been going all week, actually amazed at how big it is. Bunnies, eggs, flowers and non-stop church services. Haven't been able to find out why we've been having flowers offered left right and centre by children today though.

Will be back in the UK tomorrow where it will be all about chocolate and any religious imagery sanitised as usual.

I’d much rather a bunny handing out eggs than a man being executed with nails through his hands and feet if I’m honest…

Oh jesus, oops sorry, Thank you Mr Christ, I hath partaken in thine chocolate bounty today and I hope you come back on Sunday to show us you ain't too bothered and men are just stupid sinners that can be saved by chocolate.

Yes, as jesus sacrificed his flesh on this day, some Christians make the sacrifice of abstaining from consuming it. I don't think it is particularly widely practiced.

@Ayahuasca @Thekwango please stop :)
Yep, I don't eat meat on good friday, though it's more tradition at this point than religious TBH. I've assumed it was an RC thing, or maybe an Italian RC thing *shrugs*

I thought I'd make a thread for this seen as we have threads for other religious sacred days.

Good Friday is a day of commemoration of the life of Jesus and his sacrifice to be crucified on the cross.

It is a day of reflection, to be humble, to appreciate the things we have and the people we know.

No, good friday is a man-made holiday based upon a man-made story written in a man-made book.

I love having a long weekend. I'm an Atheist but still enjoy the Christian breaks we are allowed, for free, sort of. Of course it is made up holiday but eating copious amounts of chocolate is Ok by me. Shame they charge such over inflated amounts for them. Also my cooker just went bang, so it's annoying I have to wait for the weekend to be over to get a new one delivered.

Every year when this Easter weekend comes around, I keep thinking we should make the Saturday a bank hol as well, given how so many jobs expect people to work Saturdays.

Then almost everyone in the UK would get the four day, Fri-Mon, break from work.
