Hi guys, so after lots of research, I've come up with the computer which I intend to build imminently, and as there are far more qualified people here than I, I would appreciate if a few of you could look it over, and see if there's any design flaws or better decisions that could have been made which I have missed. I would also appreciate if any of the prices of the components could be better.

Here's the specs:

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 Memory GOLD DUAL CHANNEL Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-18) £33.00
PNY 8800GTS G92 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card £94.88
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping (2.4GHz 1066MHz) Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache £149.95
ASUS P5QL SE iP43 Socket 775 6 channel audio ATX Motherboard £64.73
Antec 300 Three Hundred Case - No PSU £44.99
OCZ Stealth XStream 600W PSU - SLI Ready ATX2.2 12cm Fan £61.01
Seagate ST3500320AS 500GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200rpm *32MB Cache* - OEM £42.28
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 Processor Cooler £15.76

Samsung SM-2443NW 24" LCD Monitor 1920x1200, 20,000:1, 5ms, 300 cd/m2 £210.41

Thanks for reading!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I intend to do some overclocking, though not particularly to an extreme level, so please also mention if what I have found would work well enough for overclocking.

Looks like a budget build...how much did you have to spend?

Not enough! I'm pretty skint, and to be honest including the monitor it isn't really all that cheap.

The total is £506 for the box, £715 including the monitor... I possibly could spend a little more if the net gain was high, but I don't really feel like going down the slippery slope of - if I spend x amount more I get x amount more power, as where do you stop once you start that game?

With regards to the GFX card, I am not really a gamer, probably most of the work my card will be doing will be running code when more applications implement CUDA etc. If this card is insufficient, what would be a better alternative which has a good power to £££ ratio?

By the way, does it look terrible running games at a lower res than the screens native res? To be honest, as I'm not really a gamer, if I'm playing games it will just be to waste some time, I don't need to be able to pick off 1 pixel of a persons head in counter strike, or whatever the modern equivalent of that is :).

It is a slippery slope idd.

Tbh spec looks gd for that price tag...possibly with the GPU go for a 4830/50. Would be a slight price increase tho...and as your not a gamer...i probably would be happy with the 8800.
