Brought one to fit onto a asus p5n-e sli, it firts/works ok from posts i've read but i've got an issue and no idea how to resolve it.

if the case is on its side the pc works, but if i stand it upright the pc powers on then powers off after 20 seconds or so.

put the retail cooler on and all is well.

removed/refitted the ninja without any success, checked the pop in plugs and cant see any issues with them.

Anyone any ideas of a mod etc that i can do to keep it in place or have i got to look else where for a cooler ?

cheers.........

I had this with a particularly heavy sink called the Deep Impact on my athlon xp, I remedied it by slinging a piece of copper wire round it (1mm thick) and basically tyinging the ends together round the metal rail that the PSU sits on. Gave both ends a twist to tighten it up and it pulled the sink up nicely!

nice work :D , silly question will ANY wire work or copper for a particular reason ?

strange but the scythe isnt all that heavy. if the relatively little strain it puts on the board causes that problem then the board either isnt fitted properly and causing a short or (much more likely) there's a fracture in one or more of the tracks on the board and the slight bending of the board is enough to break the circuit.

Errm well I used copper because it bends easily and would tighten up when I twisted the ends, if you have plastic elecrtical cable it could also work, I simply used copper because of the sustained tension it'd bring (and it's all I could find :o )
