Have I been sold the wrong speed fan?

Bought a Noctua S12 1200rpm a few weeks back, before OCUK started selling them, and I've just checked the speed in the BIOS, and it's giving me a reading of just over 800RPM. Have I been sold an 800RPM version instead?! I've looked at the packaging, and there is no speed mentioned on there, so maybe it was an honest mistake, but how can I check? Could it just not be set up right in the BIOS or something? Is the BIOS reading even accurate, or is there a Windows app that checks fan speed so I can confirm it? I thought Speedfan did, as the name suggests, but it doesn't (not on mine anyway).

OK, how's this for 'interesting'. Hadn't noticed the barcode label on the side of the box before. It says '1200', indicating it's the 1200RPM version I have. However, I notice that this barcode label has been stuck on. I peel back the corner to reveal...yup, you guessed it, an '800' barcode!

Which motherboard?

Maybe thge bios is setting the fan to 800rpm. Read about some of the fan controls on boards such as the Gigabyte DS3/DS4 e.t.c.

Bad Axe 2 motherboard. I do have 4 fans plugged into the board, so maybe that has something to do with it. Is there a BIOS setting I can change?

Can't see any settings that I can tweak in the BIOS. Not sure what I can do. Fan actually says 1200 on it, so unless that's had a sticker put on top too, I guess it is indeed a 1200RPM fan. Stumped...

I dont know the Bad Axe motherboard, but does it have a Smartfan setting? I had to disable mine to get the fan to speed up.

I've noticed in the manual it talks about fan speed control and Intel Precision Cooling Technology. Seems that could be the reason why the fan is running slower. I will dig around in the bios to see if I can find where this setting is.
