I pulled a usb stick from my pc and usb ports stopped working and ssd not booting, does this sound like the motherboard is now faulty, its a asus p8z77-v pro

have you left out the cmos battery for 30minutes and tried?

look at the usb port to make sure its not squashed or bent and shorting ect

Its all the usb ports, im going to try the battery tomorrow as ive had enough of messing about wit it today

yeah im just thinking if you bent it when you pulled out the usb stick,if its bent it might short, knocking out the board ect

I will double check, whats bothering me most is i cant boot into windows because the ssd is not reconised

that could be down to badly borked cmos,sometimes a bad crash will cause you to lose ssd/hdd detection

also unplug the ssd from any power,leave it for 30 minutes then try

i tried resetting the cmos but nothing so out of desperation i tried reinstalling windows and all looked good untill i tried to install the lan drivers and pc froze up restared the pc and tried again this time the drivers installed but windows fails to load so uninstalled drivers and tried again but exact saim thing happens, im thinking the mobo has had it

try an overnight cmos battery removal,sometimes it takes longer

tried it, still having none of it, thought i had it sorted but as soon as i try to install the lan adator drivers the pc freezes up and no usb ports working

and when i look at the device manager it says windows failed to load drivers code 31

Sure it's code 31?? That usually points to network adapter.
Can you get into windows??
If you can reinstall network/chipset drivers, even if you have to use the older ones off your disc then update them.

Or try a restore point.
If you can't get into windows you may have to re-install windows.

have you tried reflashing the same bios? it might clear it and fix it

flash from within the bios tho

Done a fresh install of windows and started to install chipset drivers but as soon as i try the network drivers it fails and usb ports stop working

yeah but the bios is different,im just thinking if it was corrupted in anyway it would error out when installing the drivers? idk but its free and worth a shot?

flashed the bios but still no go, had enough now new board comming today and hopefully should be the end of it

I have an old network card laying about somewhere but could not find it, i think even if it worked it would still bug me the motherboard was not working right, anyways new one in but i cant find the bloody tim
