Decided to put my headphone cable in the soundcard at the back of my PC last night rather than use the front panel (Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty).
So I plug the connector in when the sound card MOVES! Inwards to the PC. Eek methinks. Reset PC and try to reseat card. Windows can't see it. So I enabled the onboard sound for the moment.
Have I broken it or is it more likely the PCI slot is broken? It turns out the sound card wasn't screwed in. No idea why. Would have thought I'd have done that. The sound card connectors/"teeth" look OK to me so I'm guessing the card has ruined the PCI slot?
I do have a spare PCI slot, well it has a TV card in it, but I can't get any reception here so that could come out.
