Have I broken my 2500k?

Based on the fact that it is trying to boot. I very much doubt it would try and boot it's self with a dead CPU.

This sounds like a boot loop to me and nothing more.

Can you also post the make and model of your motherboard please Pknite? As I can't see this listed on the link you gave.

A boot loop doesn't crash BIOS once in it? To be fair the OP hasn't given us much helpful info. There's a good chance he's just changed a setting that he doesn't understand, and a simple load of the defaults or OC profile would sort it.

What's that based on? Is there a function to "shut down" a processor if the voltage is of a dangerous level? We're not talking about a heat issue where this would happen after all. If the only thing this guy has changed in BIOS is his multi and left it on auto voltage, I can't see there being anything else wrong given that BIOS won't even remain operating after a few seconds.

OP, just reading back through the post and you're saying quite a few conflicting things. First you're saying that it can boot and run windows fine at 4.3, then you're saying that it cant even load BIOS. Which is it? Confirm that you have actually reset BIOS defaults (usually F5)? Can it load windows at default settings?

Sorry I haven't been completely clear

First of all a few weeks back I tried to get it to boot 50 on auto it then crashed and I had to load the cmos via taking the battery out, the lowest stable multiplier it would then run was 43 I still did this via auto.

Then today I booted 46 with various voltages in the following order 1.35 1.38 1.40 1.41, I was increasing them because it kept bluescreening the moment I ran a stress test.

When I booted 1.41 it failed to boot and put me in the predicament I am in now, I have taken the battery out and shorted the pins I found in my manual to reset the cmos numerous times to no avail.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte z68x-ud3p-b3

I am guessing I damaged it when I initially tried 50 on auto voltage and I am now here looking like an idiot.

Edit:
Why didn't my pc come with the OCuk Bios activated and/or why didn't I get any instructions for changing to the overclocked bios, they gave me some for putting my GPU in. I know I am an idiot but I feel a bit cheated that I purposely bought a pre overclocked system because I knew very little about it and it didn't come overclocked out the box or with instructions.

No but what he is describing is boot looping. And Gigabyte boards are known for this issue.

And I agree, more info at the start would have made things a lot clearer.

Just set it all back to default, as already mentioned. Then test for any faults.

Were it that easy I wouldn't be here, I already knew how to reset to cmos before posting here and had done previously.
Have a read through this and try and re-apply the OCUK profile of it still exists. Not sure if it will still be there after clearing cmos, but try anyway.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/announcement.php?f=129

I get about 2 seconds of viewing the bios start up before it shuts down, this same thing has happened over 20 times it will boot show the start up bios screen with the options to enter bios etc and 2 seconds later it will shut down.

So I can't change anything

I will see what OCuk think tomorrow and decide what I will do then, thanks for your help.

Default would be without any overclocking what so ever. Which is all I've seen you try in this thread, while trying to get it stable and fault free.

And I agree take this to overclockers, and they will help you out mate.

Based on that I'd still say it sounds like there is some damage. Might want to check that you haven't knocked the memory slightly out of the slots when you took the battery out. Other than that, I'm sure OCUK will sort you out. Give them a call rather than webnote as they can be a bit slow responding to the latter.
