Have I damaged my CPU?

Hello,

Something weird happened to me. I'd been running my CPU with a fairly decent overclock for about 6-8 months, then last week I returned it to stock speed and voltage as I wasn't playing many games and didn't need the overclock any more.

However, I found that the system is no longer stable at default voltage (frequent blue screens of death) and now seems to need slightly more volts to just be stable even at stock speed.

Just wondered if this sounds abnormal and if I may have caused some lasting damage to my CPU or motherboard?

Thanks for any replies.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've now returned my system to the overclock. I thought that if I was running a higher voltage anyway I might as well run the CPU at the higher speed.

I'd heard about electromigration and guess that this may well be the case, maybe the CPU has just "got used" to being run at a higher voltage.

Cheers
