Kind of pointless asking now since i have all ready bought but worried i might have paid too much.

Canon 550D Camera
Canon EF-S 18-200mm Lense
Canon Carry Bag

Paid best part of £600 delivered 2nd hand. This one here: -

Bit of an impulse buy as needed a new camera, and went for this one as it appears the lense with it alone is £400ish.

Also some advice would be awesome as i have no clue, upgraded from a Samsung i8 digital camera.

Hoping to use mainly for when on holiday later this year, and for the time being taking some nice pictures of my up coming PC build. Will this 18-200mm lens be ok to do some nice shots of PC indoors plus can i do some up close pictures of well like of the motherboard etc?

Edit: any recommendations of a decent priced tripod, my hand shake like hell!

Camera arrived today, man its a beast!!

Shame the idiot seller sent me the wrong charger with a nearly flat battery!! Still enough to get a few shots out. The above website doesnt work with the 550d shutter count. looks like some software called green lantern is the only optin.

Aside from that the picture numbers on the 8GB SanDisk ultra is only at _0856, dont know if that would count as the shutter count?

The number on the Sandisk may not be the shutter actuations, for this you will need Magic Lantern hack, once you have that installed the shutter count is in the Debug menu.

I think every time the shutter count reaches 10K the image numbers reset, but I could be wrong.
IMO, don't worry about it, by the time the shutter goes on you, you'l be able to buy a replacement cam pretty cheap...

i think you mean the canon EF-S 18-55MM IS Lens.

i too have got the same camera and a red snapper tripod. i would strongly recommend getting good tripod like red snapper and a remote shutter cable. also i recommend looking at getting a canon 50mm f1.8 lens but remember that the their also a f1.4 version which is very good but also very expensive compared to the f1.8 version which can be bought brand new for under £90.

The OP bought a 18-200mm Lens, so i'm not sure your point about lenses is that relevant to him. And to the majority of people for that matter. Most just want to cover a decent range and Sony lenses more than achieve that.

Anyway, someone was smart enough to snap up that Sony camera on ebay i recommended. Whoever it was got a much better camera package than the OP did for about the same price.

an 18 - 200mm lens may cover a wide range but the quality will suffer (as per any make of lens that tries to cover such a wide range of focal lengths).
