have i dropped a clanger?

Hi all I have purchased the below board and a 3570k cpu. I have now found out that this board only works on the new bios with newer i5 chips. Cpu due tomorrow .

My concern is I am moving from an older skt and have no way to upgrade the bios. Can anyone help?

Order something like the G440 (or one of the other cheap sandy pentiums) and use it to update the bios, then drop your 3570K in

And you can always send the G440 back under DSR I believe, it may cost you a few quid though.

how olds the motherboard? if you just bought a z68 instead of z77 you did drop a clanger

I'd be surprised if it didn't work straight up.
If not, get the single core cele.

Its new and sealed arm, was looking for a cheap upgrade and got that board no competitor price hinting. Thank you.. Know I can get 4.2 maybe a bit more once the board accepts the cpu. What's the chance of it been the newer bios,s with it been new?

if its gigabyte then you probably need a Celeron to flash to support later ivy bridge cpu

you can try it first or,return the motherboard n pick up a cheap z77 d3h board

Totally depends on the date of manufacture.

Would the date of manufacturer be on the serial sticker?

I'm not sure how its determined with Gigabyte boards, most likely ties in with the serial number.
