I've been reading through some of the topics on here and noticed the term 'good chip' come up a few times in a few different variations, basically referring to the fact that a CPU chip can overclock well compared to other similar CPU's.

I have a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 810 2.6GHz. I have 2 standard casefans in my pc case which is a Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case. I am using the stock CPU cooler.

This is AMD Overdrive stability test, which had been on for 1 hour.

I had a go at overclocking and managed to get up to 3120 gz and am seeing some decent temps - are these sorts of numbers normal/good and do i have a good chip and should i be aiming for a higher overclock? Also should i consider buying a new cpu cooler, and are there any that will fit on with thermal pads, as im not too keen on applying thermal paste! lol. Ty for help.

Sure, just give us a heads up on the motherboard you are using.

Btw, seems like a very decent OC considering its in the 50's on load :D

As a way of an update - i ended up getting a Arctic Freezer 64 and im really happy with the results, seems my chip is pretty good!

Heres a screenshot of my new temps under the same conditions as previous test - 1 hour of stress, 2.6 quad overclocked to 3120
