PC keeps freezing, seems to be doing something and when i start up theres something called sdfsdf doing stuff. My virus checkers not turned up anything

search for that in google...what anti virus/spyware you got?

if it can't see that than you would be needed to find a replacement.

you could try a trial of kerpersky..or something on the free side

could try Avast ( unless that is what you use?:P) also give malwarebytes a go, MSE as well.

Some quick searching shows that it is a virus, try loading up safe mode and disabling it, then find the root of it, perm delete it and scan with malware/virus checkers.

From what I can find out, its caused by a internet video which downloads malicious code onto your pc - usually - from having to sort out my sisters laptop on many occasions, its usually just a registry entry.

Try scanning with AVG Free. I cannot recommend that program enough.

cheers just installing avg now :)

Its done it again now as im installing avg. Saw MSN chat windows pop up everywhere :-(

Seems to be randonly sending alink to afacebook account

Ah, I think I have dealt with this. Best bet, is to change any passwords you used - particularly MSN and Facebook ones in the time that you clicked on the link, to when the PC is clean.

Not sure if AVG will pick it up, but from what I can remember about these types of viruses, they have a startup entry, which is linked to directly to the registry - then it runs a program located in system32, bearing a file name which is named close to a actual windows file name which should not be deleted.

Do checkout Msconfig and look for anything suspicious in there, so sdfsdf would be a good place to start.

Edit, some more searching turned up this thread on another forum - Linky/

I quote, from a poster named Metallica -

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rson] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rson.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hplwvv] c:\windows\system32\geohucb.exe

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK
In the list of services find:
System Startup Service (SvcProc)
Rightclick that line and choose Properties.
On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled.
In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service
In the dialog box paste: SvcProc

Download, install, and run CleanUp!

Reboot into safe mode and run NOD's scan.

Avira, Avast or Microsoft Security essentials would all be a better choice of anti virus to recommend currently.

OP, also use Malwarebytes antimalware.

Is that a joke?

Try using Malwarebytes and/or NOD32 - make sure you update them both and then run in Safe Mode. Before scanning, its a good job to disable System Restore and to run CCleaner to remove all the temp files etc which will make scanning quicker.

No, its not. I haven't found a better program - if someone wants to reccomend one, I'll give it a try on a clean install.

Well AVG picked up 2 items, nither solved the issue. Malwarebytes picked up 18

Problem solved i hope :)

Still gonna have to do a fresh install now tho but gonna wait till i get me new mobo

What's wrong with AVG exactly? I'll give MSE a chance.

It let plenty of viruses through on the machines I installed it on, many moons ago.

Have since moved to Avast! then later changed to Avira, which I use today, with good results.

However anything suspicious under 10MB gets uploaded to virustotal.com, which checks it with more than 30 commercial virus scanners and aggregates the results. Handy!
