Hi guys I'm running an i7 920 with the rampage extreme2 mobo. I have over clocked the CPU using the rampage extreme CPU level up to 3ghz in the bios. When I enter CPUID it jumps around form 3000mhz and settles at 1920mhz. When I was running it at stock I was only getting 1602mhz this isn't right is it ?

you have power saving features on in the bios, CIE and some others (can't remember off the top of my head), they use a lower multiplier wen the CPU is idling, notice how the voltage drops in ur stock picture too

If i am correct everything is normal if they have not changed anything from the standard design. (I am using the quad 9650) It sound like you have the EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) enable which mean that it would switches both voltage and frequency in tandem between high and low levels in response to processor load, if you want it to be constant i do believe you would have the disable that option, and then set the speed again, that option is good if you dont always want your CPU running hi speed all the time, also with it is enable you would not notice the difference it is seamless. trying running a benchmark and see what happens i bet it will change to the desired speed. when you are doing wordprocessing it will just go back to low power because you all know that you dont need a super overclocked chip to do word processing or surfing the internet.
