Hi Guys,

Purchased myself a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv in white. Was just wondering if my radiators will cool my proposed hardware.

Hardware
- Nvidia GTX 980 (Maybe a 980ti if they come out soon)
- Intel i7 4790k

Radiators
- Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 240mm
- Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 240mm

I want this to be a silent build.

Thanks

Hopefully you'll be okay, but it depends on your definition of silent.

I have;
I5 4670K running at 4.2
2 x 780ti's

cooled by,
1 x Nexxos 360 x 45
1 x Nexxos 280 x 45

600rpm and it's really quiet and fine for browsing, movies and the like. To keep the water temp anywhere sensible when gaming and benching it needs to be around 1,000rpm and it's not silent anymore, even then I can get the water up to 42-44c.

The 980's are better power and heat wise so you should hopefully be fine.

they say 120mm of rad per item you have 2 items so 240 would be minimum the second rad is all over head. you will be fine, just use good fans

360mm would be minimum, so 480 is fine. If silence is your main priority, go for SP120 fans on the rads and hook them up to a fan controller. My SP120's are set to run at 900 rpm and are barely audible (there's 5 of them and an AF140 running at 700rpm (exhaust)).

String, do you have the SP120 performance or quiets ? Im looking at using some quiets but worried they are not pokey enough

Quiets.

In my experience, as long as you have static pressure fans installed and they're moving some air across the rad then things will be fine. I've run my system with the fans low and then cranked them up full and the temp difference isn't really earth shattering (I can't remember exact numbers). Also, bear in mind that you have 240mm of radiator overhead there and that's probably making a bigger difference than choice of fans.

Silence is important to you, so try the quiets and experiment a little. Run the system with fans off, then up the rpm in stages and monitor both the temperature drops and the noise increase. Get the noise to where you find it acceptable and see if the temperatures are OK. You can always return the fans within a fortnight if you buy them online.

My guess is you'll be happy with the quiets turned down a notch or two, as I say you've got the headroom there. Also, Maxwell cards run cool on air so they've got to be cool under water (I haven't been able to get a block on my 970 yet).

My plan was to use Noiseblocker NB eLoop PWM fans. Thanks for the advice though. The silence needed was for when im working. When i'm playing I usually crank the volume up so wouldnt bother me much.

Thanks for the help guys.

Those fans could be better but I have no experience of them. When I'm unsure I usually unpack with care in case they need to go back. ;)

Good luck with the build, and enjoy.

Cheers string, i will be cooling a 4790k and 970 with a 360 and 140 rad 3x sp120 and undecided on a 140mm fan as cant seem to find a 140sp and would like to match if possible
