Have i got everything i'll need???

thanks for that, least ill know what to expect on start up.

With the money I'm saving on the 1080 card...what would you upgrade on my list? Motherboard maybe??
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £767.99 (includes shipping: £13.20)

Parts of this basket which are currently discounted:
  • Case, CPU cooler, motherboard and PSU

The case is all black instead of black/orange, but you can just use the RGBs on the motherboard and GPU to create any colour scheme you want. The complete black case is more versatile for colour schemes.

The case, psu, motherboard and cpu cooler currently in your basket cost ≈£398.
The parts I'm recommending cost only ≈£389 in total, and mostly give you more performance for less money.

The existing case will be quiet, but the front panel restricts air flow so temps won't be amazing. Here are some alternatives with much better airflow (but not silenced):

Not a lot, the case looks a bit crap to me, so If you're desperate to spend more, a nice lian li case would be a nice finishing touch.

Edit.. But cases are very much personal preference.

ok, the case situation i actually agree on, looks better in black and i can RGb to whatever i like.
The board says it needs 500W of power and will use around 180W, so ill take you advice and drop down to the 550W PSU.
Definitely upgrading the motherboard, thanks for that tip. It has some very good reviews too.
The CPU cooler from your basket and my basket are the same aren't they? Only difference i think i can see is the price and mines already cheaper, am i missing something?
Thanks

The one I've linked has an extra fan and cooling tower which which will mean lower temps.

A potential issue might be RAM clearance with this cooler, you could either try moving the fan up the tower (although there isn't much room for this with the case) or switch to low-profile sticks.

If you wanted better RAM compatibility for a similar price, the Noctua NH-D14 and NH-D15s are possibilities.

ahhh yes i can se now.
Could you recommend a couple of fans to go with the motherboard? Just thinking seen as I'm going back to a black case, had my eye on a couple of 140mm RGB BitFenix but says compatible with ASUS aura sync motherboards, does this matter?

All looks good. That case is much wider than the Bequiet, so you should be able to move up the front CPU cooler fan to fit RAM (if that's an issue). If you wanted to be extra safe, you could get a taller CPU cooler with better RAM clearance (one that wouldn't have fitted in the bequiet).

Ram should fit under the Pro 3 fin without having o move the fan up over the cover .
Either fan can be moved up or top of heatsink can be taken off . Heatsinks just for show on ram .
Heads up, those Bitfenix fans are loud , 29db at full pelt .
If your after saving budget and wanting your case not to sound like a jet engine. Wing boost 2 fans !
If you've got the cash noctua or silent wing 3 fans and run them at 100% :)

Mentioned this on another thread as Pro M was recommended over the Pure 600.
Might as well go the extra mile and get the RGB edition

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Fans up front with Phanteks RGB fan covers - absolutely love them as doesn't force your hand when picking fans !

Although I've installed them in Pure 600 and used on inside .
Personally would remount them so they face the side of the case to light it up a bit :)
YLezmUL.jpg
Phanteks haven't got as darkened glassed and white inside which does help having products on show without needing strong lighting

Having dual pure 600 for friends build with Vega and i7 8700, noticed no issues with restrictive airflow .
Only cases I've come across is Phanteks evolv and if you stick a damn good fan in there, isn't to bad :)

ok, guys, the build I'm near as all set just cant decide on cooling...here re some options. What would you recommend please?

I don't think you can install that front VR panel in the front of the case, as there are no openings.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,139.09 (includes shipping: £15.30)

Case changed, looks ok to me. Comes with 4 preinstalled fans and RGB lighting strip so happy days.

I think I'm all set now to place the order...see anything I've missed? Ill be picking up a 0.3m hdmi cable to go to the VR panel. Can you think of anything else?
Picking up a 144Hz monitor at a later date and i already have a keyboard and mouse.

Thanks again!

All looks alright, would just ask yourself if you need so many 5.25 bays . The case @orbitalwalsh linked has 1 5.25 (which is all you need) + RGB fans. Only thing I would add to that case is an exhaust fan.

Also, if you really like the Bequiet case (I think it looks nice as well) don't feel like you absolutely must have the VR front panel option - you can just get a HDMI extender/longer cable if necessary. It's only a minor convenience, and if it forces you to pick a case you don't really like then it isn't worth it. Also means you could pick a better priced GTX 1080, assuming you haven't ordered the AORUS already.

@Kev1eighty7

If you got the Aorus 11gbps at the price of normal gtx 1080 then as mentioned above , the Pro M RGB

Another ... Expensive option for you liked the base 700 is Pro 900. Case door opens for front panels . No RGB though !

If you haven't got Aorus and get a normal card , don't cheap out on poor quality hdmi extension !!!!!!!

Did you see ,i7 on sale for £350 ;)

@southernorth @orbitalwalsh

Gents, I'm bit confused now, i haven't ordered the Aorus card of yet no, are you saying i should get a better card? I thought that was a great card?? Found it for £494.99.

I would rather have a 'be quiet' case purely for aesthetics, if you STRONGLY disagree speak up, but if not I'm going with the silent base 800.
Cant justify forking out more than around £200.00 for a case either.

New total with Aorus card (have seen the GEFORE GTX 1080 G1 GAMING RGB 8912MB GDDR5X PCI EXPRESS has 9 very good reviews) can knock £100.00 off total for AORUS card

This is getting more expensive by the day!! :D

Can you tell me the difference in the RAM priced above at £209 and the previous RAM i had in my basket at £188 too please. Seen orbital recommend it in a 'healthy budget' build on another thread

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,839.80 (includes shipping: £0.00)

The AORUS is an excellent card, especially for the price you've found it (wasn't expecting it to be so cheap).

The point I was trying to make was, if you picked a cheaper card than the AORUS (without an HDMI port at the front of the card) then you wouldn't need the front VR panel or a case with a 5.25 bay (so would save a bit of money). But since you've found it so cheap, this money-saving idea won't work anymore as you'd struggle to find a better card for less. Get the AORUS with or without VR panel basically.

The 209 8pack RAM gives you more room for overclocking and reducing timings (if you wanted to delve into that technical side of RAM) over the 188 set. But to be honest, you'd be very hard pressed to notice a difference in games and apps etc between the two sets.

One potential issue I can see is that case doesn't leave very much room for the CPU cooler, especially if you need to move the CPU cooler fan up to accommodate RAM. Only a few mm spare. An AIO cooler would get rid of this issue entirely, but for added cost.
