Have I just Been One Hit Killed?

I haven't used a WinPower PSU since I had my old socket A system - even then it was pants...

In my oppinion, if you can't afford a decent PSU to go with the other parts you're ordering, either buy what you can and then save for the PSU, or just don't buy anything until you can afford a better one

Slapping a cheapo into a system like that is just suicide if you ask me

Winpower? Isn't that something you would buy in a system from PC World? lol! If THIS is something you did, for e.g bought a system from PC world or Curries or any other store that isn't online like overclockers, as harsh as this may sound.. DO NOT UGPRADE IT! Don't stick additional GPUS in it, don't stick ram in it,. The PSUs and MOBOS yo uget from places like these are just cheap cheap bottle of the ladder parts! Best to stick to buying your parts seprently or buying a system from somewhere like overclockers where they are built from the ground up and you can see EVERYTHING thats in there : )

That's a terrible cheap PSU that I would never dream of using. Never skimp on the PSU. I hope it hasn't taken out any of your other components. I recommend getting a Corsair PSU, such as the TX650W.

The first build I did had some cack CiT 750w psu that cost me 40 quid. Luckily nothing went wrong, and it lasted about 4 months before I bought an Antec tp-650 (highly recommended).

Understandable how you managed it, but next time...

DON'T SKIMP ON THE PSU!!!!!!!!1111

Like others have said, good PSU is never money wasted.

Plus, if you get a decent PSU you can reuse it again and again and again.

High initial outlay but if it lasts through 2-3 rigs (and doesn't assplode killing all your components :D) then thats quite a saving IMO.

+1 for don't buy a cheapo PSU.

A friend of mine bought a cheapo crap PSU from a well know high street electronics chain. They should be on the Map.

He spent about £80 on it and thought that the price denoted quality. I told him it was a pile of poo and he returned it and bought a Corsair PSU for less money from here.

I had a Hiper 580w that did that many moons ago.

As others had said buy a decent PSU with a nice high energy efficiency.

Should produce less noise and less risk of expensive bits going bang.

cheap PSU may sound good when building as saves a few pounds, but in long run can end up costing more when it blows and if unlucky takes other components with it.

Take it as lesson learnt, admitadly a tough one.

What was the PSU that people used to buy ages ago? Q something. They used to blow up all the time and take mobos, cpus, gfx and everything else with them.
Q something, or something Q.

hope you get it sorted buddy cheap psus are not for winners.

A well branded 500-600w PSU can power top end rigs as they only output max 350-400w under load I think it is.
So, rather than seconding it, I think in this post it will be eighteenth'ing it that you NEVER skimp on the PSU! :D And go modular if you want a bit of tidiness ;)

(Lol @ the above)
