Have I made a mistake!

My lad went and traded in his 360 and PS2 for a PS3 yesterday because he thinks he made a mistake with the 360. Does that even it up a bit?

[EDIT] Actually, thinking about it I know three other people (four including me) who got rid of their 360's and moved over to PS3 and don't regret it one bit. That must outnumber the amount of 'I made a mistake buying a PS3' posts so therefor I win ;)

About 6 of my mates from school who were all hardcore PS2 fanboys and took digs at my original Xbox all have Xbox 360's now. ;)

I hit them with the "Oh the irony" quite a few times. :D

LittleBigPlanet Beta, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, GT5 Prologue (online with 16 cars), Heavenly Sword, Pro Evo...

To the original poster, calm down and sort the PSN. You haven't described why it isn't working and it isn't any worse than Live apart from not having XMB over games (which will be included soon). Games are coming, be patient.

At the moment the future games for 2008 on the PS3 are looking incredible, so I don't understand unless your just looking at this years lineup. You should ditch F1 and buy Sigma for a start, VF5 is also better than Vegas. I also bet there are some PS2 games you haven't played that are probably worth playing.

Wait until the new 360s come out which are stable and then purchase one before christmas :)

LittleBigPlanet is something which sounds as if it belongs on the Wii :p

Heavenly Sword, aye looks ok.

GT5, PGR4..

Pro Evo, Also on the 360.

:D

If you think the 360 has the games you want then go for that instead, I'm sure they'd do an equivilent exchange or something. Just make sure they don't try and give you something that costs less than the PS3 did.

They more than likely wouldn't give your equivalent value back as your pS3 is now second hand and they will only be able to sell it on as pre-owned.

Just wait 6months as you will be buying another one when the games start coming. Appreciate the blu-ray features instead.

I liked my 360 so much I bought a spare one :p

I just bought a PS3 and received it on friday. Got a cracking deal for it, so I have no complaints at all. The graphics are gorgeous and i've enjoyed every single game i've played thus far and can see them all being quite replayable, especially online. My catalogue is this: Resistance, Call of Duty 3, Motorstorm, F1 and Ridge Racer 7, with The Darkness on its way too.

That's 6 games i've got already for the thing, they'll keep me occupied for all the time that I need until new stuff comes out. And if not, I have my PC and Wii to keep me occupied too.

Yeah the new stuff coming out this year may well be multi-format, but quite frankly I don't really care if the 360 versions are arguably better due to jaggies or whatever, sure they can be annoying, but not exactly game-breaking. I'm still happy with my purchase thus far!

To the OP: I managed to sign up to the playstation store no bother at all, you just have to set up your network settings first, have you done that? Can you access the playstation internet browser?

Good idea, then you always have one to play whilst the other is off for repair :p
LOLZ :D
That was a part of it but part of it was so that I could still play when the wife hogs the TV downstairs :)

Here is the thread I used to describe the PSN problem.

Does your cable modem work via USB or Ethernet? I doubt the PS3 supports USB modems due to drivers needed etc.

I would recommend you get an all-in-one wireless router and hook your PS3 up through that.

I have it plugged in via Ethernet ,I power doen my cable modem for 2 mins then plug it into my powered down PS3,I then turn on my CM and wait for the lights to stop flashing then turn on my PS3. When i check my internet connection under the PS3 settings it fails at the PSN section.

IF!!! I leave my CM for say 10 mins and follow the above under my internet setting in the PS3 setup my IP address changing to something totally different and below the ip in brackets it says (Private networks only)

When I check my interent conection then It cannot even find the interent or asign an ip address.

With regards the cable modem, IIRC you cannot use ethernet and usb at the same time. For example, you cannot have the pc plugged in via usb and the PS3 via ethernet, you'll need a switch.

it's not only ethernet.

ThundyCat, have you checked that the MTU (Packet Size) settings on your PS3 and Modem are matched.
I had all sorts of problems until I set these correctly (1458 works fine for ADSL services, may be different for Cable) and I haven't had any issues since.
