Have i Missed anything

I Have been wanting to upgrade for a while as my cpu is the bottle kneck in my pc for some games
I have been waiting on the Ryzen 3000 series but ryzen isnt doing it for me so will be going i9 9900k


but want to do it as cheap as poss whist keeping a min spec
e.g. 32gb

Im thinking i can get away with just replacing 4 parts
Well 3 but want to move the wifi/bt module to cnvi to free up an m.2 slot at some point)

CPU = i9 9900k
Motherboard = Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming
Ram = Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200
Wifi Module = Intel AX201 M.2: CNVio2 (will this even work on current cpu's? or will i have to get an AC 9560?)

Do you guys think i need to replace anything else?

Lack of Micro ATX Boards
Bump in AMD's prices
They are clearly pushing the voltage to stupid levels stock to achieve 1 core at 4.6ghz (1.4-1.5v) on a 7nm cpu
that was far too much for an old 45nm Core 2 Quad Q9650 cpu nevermind current gen cpu's
and lets face it i want atleast 8 threads at that speed not 1

9900K is more like 200W CPU and needs way beefier heatsink to get those advertised high boost clocks.
Scythe Mugen 5 would be minimum level.

And BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4/Noctua NH-D15 wouldn't be overkill.

There's no need for expensive motherboard to have good VRM.

I was planning on enforcing the 95w tdp and seeing how much i could push it keeping the cpu at around 75°
then if it bother's me (when) replace the cooler

its a very airy case it keeps my vega 64 at 63° with a 360w tdp (50% limit)

With regards to the X570's i expect to pay around 30% less than a Z390 not double

I decided to go with a cooler in the end so i dont end up taking it apart twice
and also went with a 512GB Toshiba XG3 as my main OS drive to replace my 256GB Toshiba XG3 (256 GB will be moved to secondary m.2 slot)
and is Toshiba 19mn Toggle MLC

It wasnt cheap but hopefully im done now

I was waiting for the Noctua NH-D15S for a few days so fitted the Zalman CNPS10X Optima
I was shocked it was capable of a prime 95 load of 165w and keeping it under 91 (enforced 165w tdp)

Have been testing the Noctua NH-D15S for the last few days and im perplexed as to why everyone rages about how its the best
its only able to maintain a 180W Prime 95 load (enforced 180w tdp)

I mounted it 4 times to ensure it wasnt a paste issue
1st My normal method using a credit card thin layer on cpu and hs
2nd Same as 1 but thick layers
3rd Same as 1 but only did CPU
4th did 1st Again

1 & 2 you could see the excess paste was pushed out and where comparable heat wise
3 wasnt enough paste and was a few degrees warmer

anyway that heatsink is way overpriced and overrated
and only able to keep a 9900k at stocks speeds under control if you make sure your mother board maker isnt over juicing your cpu
e.g. gigabyte they put 40-50w extra into a stock 9900K via CPU Internal AC/DC Load Line / CPU Vcore LLC
200w prime small fft stock speeds stock settings
150w prime small fft stock speeds Power Saving + LLC Low
and even thats over intel spec i suspect

there seem to be no way to set intel spec for the vrm's and llc
I Tried Power Saving + Normal = Prime 95 Fail
I Tried Power Saving + Stock = Prime 95 Fail

In that tiny case I'm not surprised if you have heat issues. How well are you supplying fresh air and exhausting the hot air?

Its a mesh case
200mm fan in the front blowing in
2 x 140mm on top sucking out
1 x 140mm rear sucking out

Its the best case i have ever owned for cooling
and an order of magnitude better than my old Corsair Carbide 200r
and that isnt considered a bad case for cooling

and has nothing do do with that cooler being only good for 180w

hence why i stayed micro atx when i upgraded to keep this case
