Have I used the correct PCI slot?

- CPU: Intel Core i7/Core i5 Processors (Socket LGA1156)
- Chipset: Intel P55 Express
- Memory: 4x DDR3 DIMM 2200 / 1333 / 1066 / 800 MHz (Max. 16GB) / Dual Channel / Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
- Expasion slots: 2x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots, & 2x PCI Slots (Supports ATI CrossFireX Technology)
- Storage: 1x Floppy, 1x Ultra DMA 133/100/66, 7x SATA 3Gb/s (RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10) & 1x eSATA 3Gb/s
- LAN: RTL8111D Gigabit LAN

It's amazing that you can get away with describing a board has having 2x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots when one of them is actually only wired as x4 (and probably not even PCIe 2.0).

Yeah that's the mistake I made, me and my bud just thought the bottom slot would be better spacing-wise, but then again it's our first build so I guess we should've been more thorough.

Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it, swapped into the top slot and got a huge FPS boost!

Lol, well in that case I recon you should change the mobo as your MASSIVE heatsink is in the way.
I recon due to the typo on the mobo page here you could RMA it?
Scrath that:P
^he justs saved your life.

I don't think you've done any wrong as such.

Your motherboard has it's first full length slot one position nearer to the CPU when compared to most of the full size ATX boards I've seen.

This will obviosuly place your graphics card very close to the heatsink fan.

If it causes a problem you may be better off with the heatsink turned by 90 degrees (assuming it will) and blowing the air out through the back.
