So those of you who wanted a GPGPU powerhouse are, I'm afraid, out of luck if this is true!
 
I'm actually surprised they've designed it to a level of granularity in which they can actually do that. I have to wonder how or if they've disabled it in hardware, since double precision computations are supposed to take place on the same shaders that do the single precision work. Interesting stuff at any rate. Also, I would be surprised if GF100 managed a 725MHz core speed, but I suppose that would explain the power consumption.
 
Not great tho I can understand why they would do that... almost 200GFlop in DP tho should still be faster than the sustained rate on the 5870 in realworld applications - just.

That spec looks a bit woeful tho if true compared to what they were developing towards.
