Have NVidia missed the bus?

Do AMD use their Tessellation cheat in Unigine where they only render tessellation at a fraction of the requested level? could be hitting some sort of tessellation limit on NVidia if so.

Nv is being run with lowered LOD and nobody gives a **** about that. I bet some do it on here with firestrike, which is why score & clock is so inconsistent on here :)

Edit: Infact, its probably the meta for those who are somewhat competent.

SLI scaling on Unigine stuff is broken at the moment. Thought everyone knew that.

Also the 980 is still faster at 4k believe it or not. Not to mention dominating in the FSU bench.

Some people get fixated on paper specs for sure. I guess it's pure luck I'm in the top ten in a 4k bench with a GPU down on surrounding 290x 780ti scores :)

You're in the top because

1. You're one of the first few who actually bothered buying 3 of these cards.
2. You're not afriad of buying new ones if you break your current hardware.

How does it feel being in top? Well done mate :), you sure as hell got some FIERCE competition on here. Just as i had 7 months ago on my 290x and 10 months on my 290p that is still to be topped by another user.

Anyways, good job! :) Very well done, beating 1 year old hardware (hawaii and Tis if you didnt know :) ), 1 year old amazing hardware i might add, otherwise it wouldnt be impressive now would it XD?

I expected better from you. So it's one year old hardware now but Kepler being old and you still being beat by 780Tis - then age is just a number :p?

I LOVE the Internet :p It is the hardware doing the work and Maxwell certainly does the work. Try to stay out of trouble :p I'll let you know when I break 18k graphics if I get a Classified ;)

"it doesn't matter if it's faster here and here because look at this obscure data. Surely it means it's something to do with the one thing my card has over it???"

Thread summary for new comers ;)

So it seems nowdays, 5-10% more performance is a reason to upgrade from kepler or hawaii?

More milking

970 is a great card for those that use 680/7970/older or for htpc. But it doesnt bring anything new to the market compared to 780ti or hawaii. Oh yeah i forgot the freq king.Maybe we should buy bulldozer too because you can easily hit 5.5ghz with water :)

Sorry I can't hear you when you're all the way over there.

Bring that goal post back as well.

Not that this even needs saying but not sure what conversation you were reading sugar as nobody is comparing frequencies

Erm, the opening post of the thread is trying to "prove" that 980/970 cant handle 4k, user has experience of these cards at 4k in other software... not quite sure what you think you are proving with a tirade of off topic abuse

With a physics bug on SLI, on a stock bios, with 1.225v on a 4k benchmark against three KPE

I would like to point out, that I am not saying everyone and their ex wife should go out and sell their Kelper GPU for GM204, however if you were to pick an example of scaling in particular it's more a case of Unigine engine SLI scaling being completely broken period at the moment.

I think you could easily argue that the performance offset once going above 1600p isn't worth the jump for GK110 owners, but there seems to be a lot of folk as the launch hype dies down, coming out of the woodwork and proclaiming in some way that slower is still better.

Better for your wallet maybe...

Can you also let me know when having 3-4 cards is better than having 2? Firestrike seems to be the only thing that having 3-4 actually helps lol. Anyways, gaming is why you bought these cards right?

we've discussed this. No I'm not lending you a penny. ;)

Also stop with the blanket statements and I point you toward my signature.

That's all folks.

Wait, multi GPU scaling is better on cards from last year running refined drivers than it is on brand new cards running launch drivers? What sorcery is this? :O

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but with the excess 780/ti/Titan/Titan-Z still to be sold maybe too much of a good thing is bad for business?
