Hey,

So I've got the urge to upgrade my gaming pc recently, my current specs are :

z68 Asrock extreme4 gen3
i5 2500K @ 4.4ghz 1.24v
8gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
1gb AMD 6870 GPU
500gb 7200 HDD

Now that I've broken up for summer from uni I'm modding the hell out of skyrim and finally getting into it as well as playing much more BF3, I also play some WoW/SWTOR (whenever that becomes F2P).

I game at 1600x900 on a 20" monitor which I will be keeping for the foreseeable future because I have to move this thing around a lot when moving to and from university. So my question to you guys is would you upgrade to a new gpu or get an SSD?

My 6870 is limited by its 1gb vram even at my resolution in Bf3 so I cant play on ultra and with skyrim I am unable to run the HD clothing textures as well as the HD2K textures. My budget is £160 so I'm looking at either a Crucial M4 128gb ( and pocket the left over ) or a 7850 and oc to GTX580 levels

well if the graphics is struggling for you on that card then best bet would be the 7850
SSD is only gonna give faster loading times in games

I will vote for SSD, you current GPU still good up today, SSD will not make games going better, but all system will work much faster, and you never go back .

I would get both and exercise the credit card. But thats me.
If you're concentrating more on gaming then I'd say go for a 7850, the SSD will only get you to the point of playing your game that bit faster. It won't give the detail and FPS the card will in what you're primarily doing.

The main message in this post is use the mastercard and treat yourself)

**Please note other credit cards are available.

I'd reccommend an SSD. The cheaper upgrade from which you will see the most benefit, simple logic really :D

The new boot times for your OS and games will be a huge upgrade. Your graphics are fine for now, wait for a GTX 660/650 to come out if you're considering a new entry/mid level GPU.

I would normally say SSD, as it is the one upgrade that i have done, which i love to bits.

But, (big but) Haha

As your Modding Skyrim i think a new GPU would help you more. The main aspect that the mods use is the VRAM. So a 7850 would be great. And obviously you can sell your current GPU for a bit too.

My vote: 7850 :)
