Have you ever been the victim of counterfeit money or products?

I was shown a fake polymer £20 ages ago and the man said it came out of a bank hole in the wall machine lol

Have received dodgy coins and some fake goods like mach 3 razor blades.

I also used to count pound coins as part of a job about 14 years back and loads of them were fakes.

Apparently the new polymer notes are now regularly counterfeited.
When the polymer £5 first came out, a customer handed me over a counterfeit £5 as it was printed on paper and lacked the clear window

There are fake £2 coins knocking about.
Signs:
. Middle of tails side isn’t holographic
. Like the old £1 coins, the heads/tails sides don’t align
. Uneven typeface
. Queen looks prominent (raised)

money no, products yes - very first thing I bought from eBay in around '97was a copy of Quake - turn out to be a pirated :D

Had a clueless neighbour try to pay me for work I did on his PC with a couple of fake purple £20 notes about a decade ago.

You could sell they were fake, but he is/was as thick as mince and I doubt he was trying to stiff me.

The €20 and €50 notes are the most counterfeited ones in Euro as no-one accepts the €500 note.

I was once handed a fake £20 note - was basically a photo copy with a pencil mark for the silver strip - person feigned surprise when I questioned its authenticity..

However I'm surprised they can photocopy it, I thought there was software in a scanner that stops it.
I know I can't copy notes on my printer and the works very expensive printer.

No idea how they did it - surprised there was enough room for a copier in their caravan...

bought a fake mobile phone battery years ago on ebay - reported it as fake as these things are dangerous and got a refund and disposed of the dodgy battery.

When they first introduced the new £20 note back in the 90's, I was working in a petrol station as my first "proper" job. Some slightly dodgy looking bloke came in to buy petrol with what appeared to be a dodgy note. It was a a colour photocopy with the metal strip kind of painted on. It looked good as a first glance, but more carefully, I could see it was fake. I took his reg and called the police. He was stopped and they found £250,000 worth in his boot or his car. I only found this out weeks later and got no recognition for it.
