Have you experienced "smacktalk" via VOIP?

I remember once everyone was getting a bit stressed on vent for some reason, usually we're al friends just having a laugh and taking the ****, two bad days probably collided. I honestly can't remember what is was about or what game we were playing.

Anyway me and a friend were going at it & I just come with 'oh, up your dad' everyone burst out laughing at the amazingly terrible insult and carried on as normal.

Played a lot of XBL back in the day, namely Lost Planet 99% of players are there were great, even the Americans! Played MW2 (a mis-guided birthday present from my brother) on there, decided to throw the headset on the floor after 30 seconds, jesus h christ it was bad.

Play deathmatches on GTA4 on the xbox, and you'll witness the true beauty of IQ 50 americans smacktalking their little hearts out.

Arguing on the internet or over vent or whatever is such a waste of time and energy. I find that if I get involved in any sort of smack talk in games I play worse and I stop enjoying my game. I would rather ignore it and let my gameplay do the speaking.
I dont really use any public voip as I play with a few mates on out own vent in different games. Saying that, I used to love the voip in BF2 but none of that was smack talk, just people talking in the same squad and I really hope it works in BF3.

I've only ever seen written smack talk. Perhaps its the games I play or the platform (PC) I game on, but usually VOIP is reserved for same team.

This video tells a different story (1:35):

If I wasn't a gamer I would have thought that gamers are vocally antagonistic to each other, but not in my experience.

If you complain able anything other than hacking, or spawnkilling you just look silly.

Xbox live.

Yep.

1.Create Eve online account
2. Join "insert bad alliance here"
3. Join Vent/TS/Mumble and listen to grown men trying to make each other cry.

It's all part of the meta

I used to raid with this one guy in WoW, around six of us on a skype at the time....

**** went down.

Damn right it did...... so annoying after a while though!

Experienced smack talk a lot, in pc its not as bad, can usually mute/kick people as it tends to be on ventrilo,ts or mumble when I'm playing. XBox live is horrid though from when I'm round at my brothers house.

Consoles is full of it, I remember using my knife on a gun game (Black Ops) quite close to when it was released and having this 7 year old kid screaming at me, if I had some recording gear I would have put it up onto YouTube.

PC not so much, everyone SEEMS to get along (although when theres a bot on the game I've seen a lot of people lose it!).

I have had a family of Scousers attack me one by one because I injured Stevie G after about 5 minutes on Pro Evo on the Sheetbox, they wasn't any happier in the 90th minute being 3-1 up and I nearly killed Carragher(intentional this one)
