Have you named your rig?

I've called mine the Xcode, after a rip off OS I first installed on it.
Helps me differentiate between the 6 we have in our house.
My mac is just called MBP.

My mate calls his Alpha and Omega and refers to them as that in conversation.

e.g. "COD is installed on Omega if you wanna play." or "Yeah, I'm getting that CPU for Alpha."

:o

That's horrendous. I could understand a guy refering to his balls like that but not his PC's. I vote you give us his facebook so we can shame him for all he's worth.

Nope, unless you're counting naming the computer for networking purposes in which case it is "Laptop" or my old desktop was just identified by the CPU that was in it at the time.

My computer all have network names relating to Iain M Banks characters/places/books. But I don't refer to them as these names in conversation!

Mine's called 'This is not a rig, it's a computer'!

I figure I built it, it's a bit forced-together with scavenged screws and extra joints as & when I need them, so I associate it more with 'rig' than 'computer' - the latter calls to mind laptops, or Dells.

I'm surprised actually, with the amount of customisation around I woulda thought people would prefer something other than "*NAME*-PC"

PC is called Heaven and laptop is Purgatory.

All stemmed from univerisity - there was a guy on the network called Hell sharing a load of films. I named mine Heaven (to be better) and also usefully appearing just above him on the network list!

As we have 6 PC's in the house that all have to be maintained by me they all have "titles" rather than "names" so that I can keep all the records, info, backups etc. in some sort of order.
These are based on some attribute or location.

Servers are always named after Gods and Goddesses (Currently I have Selene and Prometheus). Desktop PCs are named after planets (Currently have Moon and Europa)

My Apple kit works a little different and are all descendants of Pismo (my current main Apple laptop is always called Pismo) so we have Pismo, Son of Pismo, & Nephew of Pismo.

Yes it is a little odd in my house...

How about "The Gizmo From Pismo"?

In the cartoon Futurama episode "Raging Bender", Bender's final opponent is referred to as "The Gizmo From Pismo...Beach."

:D

Someone I used to work with called his "Adele". No need to ask what brand of PC he had bought.
