The symtoms are... the whole pc fires up cd, HD CPU fan and grafix fan case fan.. but no bios beep nothing on my monitor or owt...

Spec:

Core 2 Duo E6850
GA_X38_DQ6
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz
HIS ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro iSilenceIII 512MB
Western Digital Raptor 36GB 10000RPM
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 500GB SATA-II
Antec Sonata III Piano Black Quiet Case
EarthWatts 500W PSU

i've tried with out grafix, different memory combinations, now spoke to over clockers as i think it's the mobo but just wanna think hwat you guys think.

what does your mboard say about the boot process? is it supposed to give you some confirmatory beeps?

if its not supposed to beep, have you checked your monitor?

Is the light on or off on the mobo? Do the fans that are connected directly to the PSU spin?

yeah they all spin...every thing fires up like normal you can feel the hard disk's vibrating to spin and the cd drive works fine...

yeah they all spin the case fan that connected to the PSU and the grafics fan and CPU fan through the mobo.

and my monitor works fine as i have it plugged into my laptop and no probs...

the keyboard lights dont iluminate when turned on either.. but do flash when the PSU is turned on

thanks for the replies..

Make sure that all your connections are intact and that the memory/CPU etc is seated correctly. Try reseting the CMOS.

If that fails, it does look like the motherboard.

yeah reset CMOS and also fully stripped down and reseated every thing.. so yeah motherboard to blame...

ta guys just wanted to check as semding it off later on and dont wanna have to pay to send a working part back..

you can only do so much before you have to stop.

the basics you have done, you can try and check in other setups, but most people dont have spare mboards/cpus/memory etc to check stuff.

yeah well i borowed my mates memory as it was identical...i also tried my CPU in his machine and it fired up ruling out my CPU.. so yeah like i ya said there is only so far i can go... now down to overclockers i suppose
