With having kids, running a business and building a house I've not played any games for over 5 years(other than cybernations which doesn't count)....were talking when Far Cry was the dogs danglies sort of time ago !!

Decided it was time to get back into this so I've built myself a new gaming HTPC.

So with being out of the loop for so long please can you guys kindly give me your top 5 games I should buy from the past few years as I have not a clue about any of the titles discussed in the pc games section.
I'll still have less than 10 hours game time a week I'd say so take this into account....other than that anything goes.

Thanks for your help
:)

Yikes, just 5 titles out of the last 5 years releases is going to be tough.

Could you maybe give us your desired genres or something so that we can narrow it down a bit?

Say top ten then.
I guess I like FPS, but just looking for any good games.
Sort of the best games from the most popular genres.

What kind of games do you like mate?

Do you like RPG?

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are supposed to be good. I'm playing through ME1 and loving it.
BFBC2 is a rather good first person shooter if you're in to that type of thing.
Shogun Total War 2 seems to be very popular if you're in to that type of game.

Ok..lets see..

Crysis 2
Rift/LoTRO
Shogun 2 Total War
Football Manager 2011
Dragon Age
Borderlands
Fallout 3
Oblivion
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Deadspace 1/2
Mass Effect 1/2
Dawn of War 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Stalker
Left 4 Dead 1/2
Company of Heroes
Men of War
Metro 2033

Theres a bunch of ones that I've enjoyed.

Lol, after such a long time I'm starting with a clean slate so I'll try anything.

Yes I like RPG's as long as they are playable in couple of hour batches.
Unfortunatly I'll never get time to play all day or evening.

I wouldn't buy BFBC2 for singleplayer. The online is pretty good. I definitely prefer it to CoD now. Its slow paced but obviously involves more tactics. I guess since you'll be busy with other games you could skip it and wait until BF3 which is coming out this year.

I loved BF2......it was BF3 coming out later in the year that sparked me off into getting back into gaming.

Only play Crysis 2 if you haven't played Crysis 1, else you'll see how bad a sequel can be. The original game is much better.

download steam and get some demos, see what you like and go from there.

This TBH.

With so long away from gaming, you might find a gem that soaks up your free gaming time in little chunks here and there, but some games really dont suit this kind of play.

I'd say buy a couple of the best FPS shooters of recent times first of all, as its easy enough to drop in and out of them - and then work your way into other things.

Try and find the Crysis: Maximum edition or whatever its called (the bundle of both) on popular websites that sell such things on DVD, as that'll save you endless hours of downloading.
