I will be connected to Be on the 4th. I get 4-5mb now with AOL and i want to know if having a very old socket with a socket running from that to my bed room and my modem plugged in to that will it slow my connection down?

If i get a new master socket but have it in my room will it improve?

Changing the extension socket won't change much, but not having any extensions could make a difference. Easy way to find out - disconnect the extension, connect your modem to the master socket, and look at those stats again.

Odds are you'd gain nothing from a new line except a bill for £125 from BT.
Having the master socket moved is expensive, and how much difference it would make is debatable - decent quality extension cable might make a difference, but it comes down to how much noise it's picking up.

I get disconnects when i do heavy usage like gaming and torrents but its fine when i surf the net.

People say use the test plug on the socket but i have not got one :(

It's more likely your modem crapping out if it's fine when you're browsing.
All the test socket does is disconnect your extensions - you can do that just as easily with an old-style master socket.

I hope this Bebox will fix that then it does it with these modems

BiPAC 7300GA
Netgear DG834PN

and the ****** usb modem AOL gave me 4 years ago

Edit:

It does it while surfing but like 1-2 hours apart in games its 20-40 minutes
