Having a nightmare trying to install XP to SATAII...

I have a Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Pro, and two Seagate Barracuda 320gig SATAII disks. I realise that I will need to select the F6 "Install 3rd party SCSI or RAID controller" when running from my XP disk, and do so - I did not get a driver floppy with any of the hardware, so I created one from the Gigabyte website.

Windows recognises the two drives when I don't select either of the two install options I get when I use the floppy disk (RAID controller and Storage controller), but when I select Storage controller, Windows finds neither of the hard disks when it tries to install.

Without the driver disk, Windows happily copies its install files to one of them, then reboots, and is unable to boot from it.

Really at my wits end here ... what on earth could I be doing wrong?

Why don't you try slipstreaming some SataII drivers onto the XP disc.

This is a big thing with SATA I have noticed, sometimes you can get through an installation as if it was IDE, and other times you have to sacrifice a goat to the gods to get it to work.
