Hey guys,

I seem to be having a problem with my PC. Every time I turn it on, it goes past the BIOS screens and freezes,

Any idea what could be wrong with it ? :)

Really need your help, please !:D

UPDATE:

Tried to instert the Windows Disc + set the boot priority to CD-Rom.

Screens saying "Press any button to boot from disk" and then "Set up is checking your computers configuration" come up and then the screen goes blank...

Please help :)

Yeah, you can go into BIOS and everything etc

CPU Temperature : 33 - 35 degrees celsius / 93 degrees Farenheit

What about GPU?

(not sure how you would test this from such a low level).. do you have an old graphics card you could stick in and see if the problem goes away?

I'm not sure how to check the GPU's temperature, it doesn't seem to be showing in BIOS.

I do have a built-in graphics card in my mobo; as well as a Nvidia Graphics card; shall I take the Nvidia one out and see if it works on the Intergrated one ?

Have you tried booting with only one stick of RAM in different slots, just to rule out that it's not the memory that's causing the problem?

OK, I've made a breakthrough discovery:

When I disconnected my Hard Drive, and booted from disc it went onto the Windows Installation screen just fine - but then said there's no Hard Drive connected.

So this obviously means it's something wrong with the Hard Drive - any ideas what though ?:)

What hard drive is it?

If its IDE - do you have 2 x drives connected to the same cable, and are they set to Master and Slave?

If its SATA, try a different cable.

What drive / motherboard do you have?

Motherboard :

Asus Vintage V3-M2V890 Barebones System - AMD64 (Socket AM2)

Hard Drive:

Samsung HD501LJ

Erm, I don't think it's any of the cables. Because it was working fine one day, and it just stopped all of a sudden; without me opening it up or anything.

Just went into BIOS, and it's down as the Furth IDE Master, and the First One is empty - maybe it's to do with that.... ?

Would it be displayed in BIOS if it was dead though ?

At the moment it's down as Fourth IDE Master, maybe I need to change it to Primary IDE Master...?
