Having a stupid moment with microphone settings

Ok must have ticked or unticked something but cannot remember what.

I was always able to disable the whilst working in windows but it would work for chat and in games with a PTT(press to talk).

Can someone remind me how I get back to this pleasant situation again.

Go into your sound settings (play control) and make sure the mic is muted. Then go into the recording properties and make sure microphone is selected.
