Hi,
I've had my 680i SLI EVGA board since about 2 weeks before it was officially released (I'm an experienced overclocker having dealt with LN2 and dry ice a lot and used to work for a major review site). Obviously this was an A1 revision board but I was happily running 2gb of Geil 6400 with an E6600 @ 3.4ghz for a good few months.
I recently bought a Q6600 SLACR G0 stepping CPU and promptly realised I needed to get a new revision of the EVGA 680i since mine was an AR model. I bought a new T1 revision yet I'm having major issues with overclocking the Q6600.
I can reach 2.8ghz with 1.35v set in the bios with FSB set to 1.3 and all other voltages at minimum, however I cannot seem to get anything higher than this stable in Windows at all. What's odd is that no matter what voltages/settings I use the system won't fail Prime 95, it simply reboots or blue screens, this is not something I've encountered before when only pushing a few mhz at a time, you'd expect Prime 95 to fail, not a complete lock up.
I'm now running 4gb (2x2gb) OCZ Platinum 6400 @ 5/4/4/15/1T which I have memtested in this system up to 880mhz fine. I'm keeping the RAM at 800 however to try and solve this problem.
Any advice please on what I can do to solve this? Have I just been super unlucky and got a lousy g0 stepping 6600? I'm running a Tagan 1100W PSU so that certainly shouldn't be an issue either.
