Just parted away from my white macbook and got a very reasonable sum for it.

I now have applecare which is brand new and a macbook case :o

I only use my macbook at uni and at home I use my desktop machine as it's much more productive with dual screens and what not.

Now I want a black macbook albeit the extra £100 on top of the white version :o

Is it worth buying or should I hold on till January conference to see if something may replace it? I hate making decision and regretting them after. I want this laptop to last me around 3 years or so, so I want to make a reasonable decision!

Regardless to say, Apple store is 5 minutes away from me.

I'd appreciate any comments :)

If you can hold it out, wait. If you can't then its not such a big deal, the MacBook is an awesome machine and you'd have to take the 'plunge' and buy it eventually.

That probably hasn't helped. =)

I was having to take my MacBook into an Apple Store yesterday to get the case fixed (discolouration on palm rests), thinking i'd be without my Mac over xmas and actually quite depressed at the thought of having to use my Windows desktop.

Well they took it in and replaced the case in an hour so i'm all happy again :D

Did they replace the screen bezel too?

I heard that they do it as they found the first batch of plastic to contain the wrong sort of mix.. which ultimately led to it discolouring :(

Yes, but I've heard that it's standard practice to swap that also (if you have the colouration problems).

Maybe they changed it, but never told you.. I'm sure they must have though.

Well on the repair receipt thing it says:

"Housing, Top Case with Keyboard, Version 2, British"

"Hardware Repair-Level 2"

So I don't know if that means the screen bezel or not?

I would assume so, but just incase it goes wrong *touch wood* just be mindful that they're supposed to change the screen bezel too :)

The MacBook is less than 2 months old - it's not going to get an update for a while yet. I think we'll get updated Mac Pros and Core 2 Duo in the Mini announced next month.

No it's not, it's less than £20 when you compare the specs.
Ha, yeah £20 extra with an insanely expensive HDD upgrade!
