I am at a total loss.

Thanks

Looks like it's elder scrolls online thing. Seems a lot of people are getting it because they are installing the new 64bit client on 32(x86) Windows hence Windows can't run it.

As a senior IT tech, this pains me... Nice description lol.

"I get this error...", screens out of context error.

Thanks

sorry silly me
Its elder scrolls online and yes they did a patch yesterday and ever since then i get the above pop up when i hit play

o and its windows 8.1

Do people still have 32bit OS's anymore. I mean its like 10 years ago or something aint it since amd brought out the first 64bit cpus? lol.

Are those active players or people who just happen to have a Steam account? Why are people still even using XP? :o

I have no idea if I'm honest. I'm not really sure how Steam survey runs.

For all I know they may be bot accounts that sign up to steam to try and scam :D.

Unfortunately I don't know how many people are in that survey but its only last months results.

As for OP try running DXDIAG.exe see if you get any actionable information from it. Otherwise standard things to check would be out of date drivers and then reinstalling the game.

Ive reinstalled the game 3 times and still doing the same. Ive checked gpu drivers and also checked dxdiag too no issues there it says.

Likely caused by DirectX files becoming corrupted.

You can attempt to fix it by deleting the mentioned files in safe mode (from both system32 and syswow64) and then re-installing (search "direct x end user runtime"); but to be honest re-installing Windows is probably a more straight-forward solution.

I'm presuming the game has patched OK if the 'play' icon is lit so you could try to avoid the patcher for now and try running one of the exe files from the game directory directly.

Either eso.exe for the 32bit version or eso64.exe for the 64bit version.

As the patcher defaults to 32bit at the moment I run the game via the 64bit exe and it works fine. The only time I need to run the patcher is on patch days.

This has been reported as a DX9 related issue that is not fixed by DX11 install. Go to Microsoft and get the DX9 c end user install
Andi.
