So, here's a brief overview of my setup

Netgear DG834PN modem router
Macbook Pro connected wirelessly to it
Home PC connected via ethernet

every now and again I'll boot my PC to find it cannot connect to the internet, network and sharing centre claims its an Unidentified network (with public bench icon) with no internet access. However Macbook gets on internet no problem at all. When I click on "Local Area Connection" and then "Diagnose" it ends up telling me that "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration". I've tried resetting the router, the PC and everything and the problem will persist. Then as if by magic the problem will go away as easily as it came, without me doing anything. The router is pretty old, so that just might be the issue here, but then it wouldn't be intermittent like this, would it?

Any ideas? keep in mind this only happens once every couple of weeks, honestly can't think what is causing it.

I'll be happy to provide any extra needed info
