having problems boting from vista disc

ok im trrying to reinstall windows 64 bit in place of 32 for my new rig but when i put the vista disc in it attemots to boot i get the windows is loading files message then the windows background screen and mouse cursor appears but then nothing else happens. i got this exact same problem when i first built my pc and changing the primary display adaptor from pci to pci express fixed it but there is no such option in my new bios! any ideas? installed windows 32 boots with no problem. thanks in advance

specs are

asus p6t deluxe
core i7 920
6 gb 1600 mhz corsair ram
seagate sata /300 barracuda hdd
vista ultimate 32 - have retail with both discs

is it an SP1 dvd? if not then remove some ram so you only have 2gb installed.

or get an SP1 dvd

yeah its an sp1 dvd.

i tried turning off quick boot in the bios. that didnt work either.

I assume you are booting to dvd from an internal dvd drive and not a usb external dvd drive?

yeah its a sony sata dvd rw drive

try with just 2gb incase..

Just wait. I waited about 15 minutes when I installed it. It will load eventually

thanks for the help guys. daniels solution worked - funny it loaded almost instanylu last time and there was no disc activity at all
