Hi im having problems with my new PC i have built and i require some advice/help on how to get it fixed,

Whenever i play a game my AMD driver stops responding and recovers,
When i try'd to render a video last night while watching an online film every 10minutes my AMD driver would stop responding and recover. This is getting worse everyday..

When i first built the PC i had no problems but now it seems like EVERY problem that can happen is happening. I have try'd to use GPU tweek to OC the GPU by using the "G" button that OC's my GPU to the max that is posted on the BOX for the GPU its only a 1020Mhz stock gpu "G" ups it to 1040Mhz i still get the problem if not i get a blue screen before the PC restarts itself!

I have try'd underclocking it using the "S" button lowering the GPU to 950Mhz but i still get AMD driver stop responding and recovered.

The temps are fine idle at 30*C in game going up to 50*C max. I have the latest CCC installed i have the latest drivers installed for my GPU.

The only thing i havnt got is the latest drivers for my motherboard unless windows 7 home premium installs them automaticly as the motherboard didnt come with a driver CD! I have try'd to look on the foxconn website for update's but it starts saying flash bios ect.... I have no idea how to do that.

If anyone could give me some help to try and solve this problem i would be forever in your debt. Im fed of my new build already and its under 2weeks old.

Please Please someone help me!

GPU= Asus HD7770 2Gb GDDR5
cpu= AMD phenom II x4 965 BE
PSU= 750W
Mobo= Foxconn AD9A-S
Ram= 16GB corsair vengance 4x4Gb
HDD= 1Tb western caviar
OS= Windows 7 home premium

What PSU have you got? My bet would be not enough juice on the rail for it.

Can you test the card in another pc?

Have you tried rolling back drivers? 12.3 is the most stable for me at the moment. Make sure the current drivers are fully uninstalled, you can do this by uninstalling it in Device Manager.

What PSU model is it?

The PSU is artic ace i think its called. It came with my PC case i think it cost me £17/20 for the PSU when bought with the case,

Someone has told me before that there PC struggles with 1000W PSU for there similar gaming build but i didnt think the PC would need that amount of juice!

What driver would i need to roll back? and do i just go to GPU in device manager and click uninstall? then go to the internet and download the drivers from the web?

Yes, and you can get the previous drivers here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx/

Try 12.4 first, then maybe 12.3.

As for PSUs, it's not just about the wattages. It's also who it's manufactured from and what amps the 12v rails gives. The PSU needs to be made from reliable parts so it can give the system good clean power as well as protection circuits incase something goes wrong. There also needs to be a good amount of amps from the 12v rails in order to properly power a graphics card. This is where cheap PSUs usually lack.

Googling the PSU I get an Ace 750w, and my god it looks terrible. It's got 22 amps on the 12v rails but it looks very cheap and unrealiable. It wouldn't suprise me if the 750w rating was actually it's peak wattage which only lasts a few seconds before going out.

Something like this would be better even though it's rated less wattage, but it uses more reliable components: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1098

Your system really only needs a reliable 450w PSU to power it.

Thats the PSU i have yes. Sorry i suck at google! i was searching my case to find the website that i got my psu and case from!

I think i will buy that PSU. or a similar type with more wattage to be extra safe!

Thank you for the help. i will go and try the drivers out first if the problem still exsists then i will upgrade the PSU.

Could lack of power be part of a reason to getting artifacts in games? i play DayZ sometimes and i know there is a bug in game that cause's them but i never got the problem untill i updated everything and got a BSOD after trying to OC the GPU with GPUtweek to "G" could this be due to a lack of power during stressfull task's?

From the sounds of things it does sound like a possible power issue. Gaming, video rendering (depending on software), and watching movies uses the GPU. We're moving to a world where a lot of things are now being GPU accelerated instead of just relying on the CPU ;).

Deffo the PSU, and it is highly unlikely that your friends computer needs the 1000w psu, it's probably a garbage one...

I have just reliesed that it would be my PSU as i watch the blue led fans on the case flicker under heavy load. Last night while rendering i was watching the fans flicker slightly.

I have just uninstalled all my drivers for my GPU im about to install the drivers again once thats finished i will buy that new PSU.

Thank you for the help once again. im very thankfull. atleast i know not to buy cheap parts for any future builds
