I've posted on the Presonus forum about this but they dont seem to be that helpful/quick with replies so I'll try here.

I've recently purchased a Presonus Inspire 1394 audio interface and it works perfectly except every so often the sound is very crackly and distorted. This isnt just when recording but when I'm using it as a normal soundcard ie just listening to music, gaming etc. Anyone else had this problem with an audio interface? I tried this microsoft hotfix which helped things a little bit (not quite as frequent now) but it still does it occasionally. I'm on Vista 32 ultimate.

I thought maybe my firewire drivers need updating but I cant seem to find what I need- it's a texas instruments device/chipset I think, built into my IP35 Pro motherboard.

Thanks for any help.

Anyone? I'm looking into a new firewire card rather than plugging straight into the onboard motherboard stuff. I read in the reviews that the Belkin card sold by overclockers has fixed problems some people were having with other firewire devices so maybe it'll work for me as well? I'm plugged into the front firewire port now to see if the ports on the back are the problem.

Yeah thats the one I've been looking at and one of the reviews says it fixed a problem that sounds quite similar to mine. My onboard firewire is allready Texas Instruments tho so not sure if it'll be any different? Anyway I'm plugged into the front port now with no problems thus far so will see if that makes a difference.
