Hey guys, I currently have an Audigy 2 ZS and running Vista x64. But I'm having problems and I dunno if it's an hardware of software fault.

My mic keeps being wierd, as in when i try and talk all other people hear is a wierd static noise. Also Vista keeps resetting the option so I sometimes get playback through the mic.

Restarts hardly fix the problem and sometimes the sounds mess up.

I'm using the drivers released from Creative, and tried reinstalling with no luck.

I love to game and listen to music so I'm guessing my onboard ALC883 couldn't cope with what my Audigy can?

All help will be appreciated. Thanks!

The Realtek is likely to be more noisy than your Audigy 2 ZS. You could try it but I think it will probably be a drop in quality.

If you try it - make sure you download Realtek 3D soundback for better gaming audio. It should get EAX 2 working in games that support it and will also allow multi-channel audio.

Longer term, I'd consider a soundcard upgrade. Maybe a Xonar of some sort. Please bear in mind that some games supporting EAX 3 and 4 will only give you EAX 2 with a Xonar (although with any luck Asus will eventially sort that out in drivers). X-Fis are a good alternative but you're stuck with Creative drivers. Avoid any of the external ones or the Xtreme Audio, as they're Audigys in disguise.
