Having some BF2/punbuster problems

Just downloaded BF2 from Steam and updated to 1.50. Punkbuster keeps kicking me after a minute or two of play for ' Disallowed Program/Driver [125119]'. PBSetup says I'm up to date, a quick google suggested that xfire might be at fault so I uninstalled it. Nothing's worked so far.

I used to have BF2 installed on this laptop and it ran without any problems. The only difference now is that I'm running a Steam copy of the game whereas before I had installed from a store bought DVD. Could Steam be causing some kind of conflict with Punkbuster?

Disable 'in game chat' option within steam settings, that will fix your problem

Do I do that in the overlay?

Open Steam

File>Settings and then 'in game' tab uncheck the 'in game' check box and no more error!

I had the same problem, Steam overlay used to be fine on BF2 for me, recent updates seem to of broken this
