I managed to upgrade my pc without formatting, and somehow most of it worked...

then when i went to install some sound drivers , and restart pc, the thing wont boot. it crashes on a blue screen saying machine check error or something.

i have a few hard drives, and i was gonna format one, but as soon as i try any other drive they wont start. Even when i put CD as first bootable device i cant get to format them :(

Its running now on an old 9gb drive that i used to windows, but for some reason it wont boot with slaves

Without knowing the exact error message, it's kind of hard to know what's going on.

Have you tried booting into safe mode to remove the sound driver? It could very well be what's causing your crash.

Failing that, it could very well be that Windows isn't happy with your upgrades and you'll need to reformat. You mention that you've tried and it won't let you?
Are you actually booting off the Windows cd? How far does it get and is it giving you any error messages?
