Hello,
This is my first overclocking attempt to please be patient!
I have the following setup:
ASROCK z170 K6 gaming
i5 6600k
AX760 PSU
NexXxoS 480 Watercooling kit
2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance
Corsair Force SSD
GTX 1070
I am trying to overclock and got it at a point where it is for the most part stable, the temperatures are fine, rarely hitting 60 (I only tend to play WoW online and single player games such as Batman) and idling at 22 degrees in a warm room.
I am running a stress test now whilst typing this and my max temperature so far is 63 degrees on the 4th core. The others sit at high 40's to mid 50's. Core 4 generally runs about 5-10 degrees hotter than the others.
I use intel extreme tuning utility to overclock and i have the CPU speed up to 4.7GHz at 1.3994 volts conducting the following settings:
Core voltage mode - Adaptive
Core Voltage - 1.3994
Core Voltage offset - 0
Turbo Boost - Enable
All 4 core multipliers at 47x
Cache Ratio - 40 x
Cache Voltage mode - Adaptive
Cache Voltage - Same as core - 1.3994
It manages to pass the lighter stress tests and the one built into the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (I don't really put the computer under much stress through normal usage) and when it is running it is absolutely fine.
However, when i put it into standby days can go by where its fine, then suddenly it will turn itself on, restart, shut down and then point blank refuse to boot until the CMOS is reset and the clock put back to its standard. It will then boot fine and I can reset the saved configuration and have another few days of no issues.
Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe a little more voltage or some changes to the cache?
I haven't overclocked the memory or the graphics card as I don't know how yet, its not something I have looked into, would overclocking the memory help keep things stable?
Is there any screenshots or logs i can upload to help diagnose this?
Thanks
