having to reboot to connect to internet

Hi, why do i have to reboot my pc around 4 times to get my internet to connect (when i try to connect , keeps saying remote computer never responded,) modem is sagem f@st 800-840 and server is tiscali 8mb. The problem has got a lot worse since i upgraded to 8mb from 2mb. any ideas guys. been to tiscali forum and there tech support just never answer.... thanks a lot fellas...

well i remember when adsl max was being pushed at first, every isp and his dog were telling people to ditch their usb modems and get a router as usb can be problematic at 8mb. i'm surprised your isp hasn't told you that?

tiscali said my modem would be fine. but since upgrade if i reset modem it shuts down pc. with serious error. i have a router so maybe will install that. thanks. or update drivers
