having trouble with asus p6t what to change?

I looked at a previous thread with the P6T motherboard and says to change the setting to manual and set the blck etc but my motherboard wont let me.

Im a bit confused as to what i can change in order to overclock this thing... it has the options there but if i hit enter it wont open the menu up... any ideas where i need to change setting? :confused:

rather than hitting enter just type the value you want then hit enter

sorry, didnt realise you just typed in it when you were over it, i figured you had to go into a seperate menu!!

changing settings now.

going with

ai overclock - manual
cpu ratio - 20x
bclk - 200
DRAM - DDR3-1603MHz

QPI/DRAM Voltage - 1.27500v

ok, its now sat at 3998.5mhz
core voltage 1.424v
bus 199.9

i should be able to push this a fair bit higher cant i?

set the CPU RATIO to 21, assuming you have got the BIOS version which allows this.

But before you do that, check your stability with Prime95 etc. And check your temps.

stability seems ok, not had any issues and prime ran ok, temps went a bit high though, idle is 39 and load was 84...

ok im really confused on this bit... everything is at just under 4ghz... but when i run the torture test with prime95 with cpu-z open... cpu-z shows my cpu speed and multipler etc fluctating... keeps moving from 12-20 and the mhz figure is all over the place...?

uncheck/disable speedstep/C1E in the bios

edit, just looked in manual, it says i have a speedstep setting in bios... but when i go into the bios, it is not there :?

It is there, but not on the screen you are looking on.

Advanced, is the screen you want.

nope, been in there as well mate.
says in the manual that it is located under the A20M section, but nothing is there for speedstep... some of the settings in the manual picturres are not in my bios for some reason...?

What version of the BIOS have you got?

Here is my thread, with the same board, from a few months ago which shows where the SPEEDSTEP option is located (Advanced Tab).

P.S. Don't follow the settings in this thread as they are from January when I first got my rig. Since then I have gone water-cooling and the settings have changed.

If you haven't got the same/similar options in the BIOS then I suggest going to a more specialized forum - i.e. ASUS.

everything is the same exact the speedstep bit.

bios version says its 0403

ive done a search on the asus website and it says bios 0603 is available.
Do i upgrade to this one? or do i have to do all the previous updates as well?
which version of bios are you running?

The latest BIOS update should include all previous updates unless specified otherwise.

EDIT: I'm running 1303
